Spirit Woman Karima shares a nourishing ritual.
In my role as Spirit Woman at WonderWomen, I will share many different things that I have learnt along the way about energy, chakras, energy balancing etc. and especially those things that are relevant to us women. Part of the language of the feminine is introducing rituals again into everyday life. Today I will share with you a beautiful, simple, cleansing ritual. The ritual has to do with inner beauty, the beauty that radiates from inside when we feel good. It is called ‘Esoteric Body Scrub’ or ‘How to make yourself sparkle’.
A good time to use this is:
- whenever you feel a bit dull
- you have ‘lost your spark’
- you feel the need to ‘clean your energy’
I was introduced to this scrub when I was participating in a women’s group in the ’90s. Since then, I have used it repeatedly on myself and shared it with friends and clients in my role as holistic therapist. One of the places I have witnessed its power to make women look sparkly has been in the women’s groups that I facilitate. These groups are generally three days and usually the women do it on the evening of Day Two at home after the group. I leave it up to them to create the space for the ritual the way they like it. Some have added candles and fragrance, some have done it with their partners. This is up to each woman’s creativity.
I have always been amazed at how effective it is. When the women come back on the morning of Day Three, you can truly see the ‘glow’. Their energy fields are sparkling.
That’s where the power of Epsom salts seems to come to work. The first time I was introduced to Epsom salts was as a way to clean the energy in our training and group rooms. We would always have a bowl of Epsom salts soaked with rose water in the four corners of the room. There was no way to ever prove scientifically if that worked or not. But once I learnt to use the scrub on myself I was convinced of the energetic cleansing power of Epsom salts. The salts seem to draw out stagnant energy and dissolve it the same way a shower washes off sweat or dirt from our physical bodies.
Here is what you need:
- a bowl and a spoon or fork
- 500 gms of Epsom salts – you can find this in a supermarket or health food store
- 2 – 3 tbsp. of honey
- A little bit of water
Mix all the ingredients into a paste that is not too watery. Start with your feet and apply in a scrubbing motion till your whole body is covered. Take care with delicate skin areas, especially your eyes. If you like, you can put it into your hair and on the scalp, it makes the hair very soft. Leave on for a couple of minutes or for as long as you like. I usually stand in my shower or in the bathtub and stretch my arms up over my head with a sense of opening and letting go. Internally I am doing an invocation to release any old or negative energy that I might carry and visualise it being pulled out of my body, cells and energy field on all levels.
Once you wash the scrub off, feel your skin. I will never forget my first scrub and the feeling of my skin afterwards. It felt like baby skin.
You can do this on your own or with a partner or a girl friend. Having it applied by somebody else can be even more enjoyable.
You can also have a bath with Epsom salts afterwards and relax deeply. Have fun and try if for yourself! You might feel like a queen …
Would love to read your feedback or any questions you might have.
